From Lifetime’s Press Release
Northern Lights
LeAnn Rimes (Meg Galligan)
Eddie Cibrian (Nate Burke)
Rosanna Arquette (Charlene Galligan)
MY TAKE: I can easily picture Eddie Cibrian as Nate, having reread the book a few months ago. I don’t know much about Leann Rimes as an actress, but as Meg was never one of my favorite heroines, it’s not like I’ll be crushed if it doesn’t work. I’m not entirely familiar with Rosanna Arquette.
Midnight Bayou
Jerry O’Connell (Declan Sullivan)
Lauren Stamile (Angelina Simone)
Faye Dunaway (Odette Simone)
MY TAKE: I guess it’s just something in my head when I read the book, I always pictured Lena and Miss Odette as more Creole — a bit of the darker coloring, but I love Faye Dunaway, so I’m sure she’ll be wonderful as Odette. I’m not familiar with Lauren Stamille, but I hope she does well — Lena is definitely one of my favorite Nora characters. And Jerry is charming and adorable, so I’m confident about his taking on Declan. Midnight Bayou is one of my absolutely favorite Nora Roberts novels, so I have high hopes for this one.
High Noon
Emilie de Ravin (Phoebe MacNamara)
Ivan Sergei (Duncan Swift)
Cybill Shepherd (Essie MacNamara)
MY TAKE: Emilie has always been one of my favorite actresses, though I wouldn’t have pictured her for Phoebe, and I know Cybill Shepard will be wonderful as Essie. I’m not familiar with Ivan Sergei, but his IMDB profile makes him look cute, so hopefully he’s a good match.
Tribute
Brittany Murphy (Cilla McGowan)
Jason Lewis (Ford Sawyer)
MY TAKE: Interesting casting of Brittany, who I have trouble picturing for Cilla, but I’m sure she’ll be great. I love Jason Lewis, but Ford is such a goofy and lovable guy, I hope he manages to capture that.
I hope this round of movies is better overall than the last round in 2007. Out of all four movies, I only feel like they were able to capture Carolina Moon with any kind of accuracy. Blue Smoke was all right and I didn’t hate Angels Fall, but Montana Sky was one big mess. I know that the books have to be adapted and changed for the small screen, believe me — I’m always arguing with my brother about it with Harry Potter, but Nora has a lot of devoted fans — there’s no need to mess with the winning formula.
